Speaking of hip hop, there is a major conflict brewing between 50 cent and Dre’s new protege Game. In anticipation of his new album, 50 has initiated feuds with several prominent rappers in the business – Nas, Fat Joe and Jadakiss; apparently, Game wasn’t game with that as he made some comments about 50’s beef being 50’s beef. In response, 50 announced in an interview with Funkmaster Flex last week that he was dropping Game from G-Unit. As things escalated, 50 said that he wrote made Game a star and wrote a good chunk of his lyrics. Of course, Dre and Eminem are also implicitly involved in the situation because both 50 cent and Game are signed with Aftermath. Apparently, Dre has been spending a lot of time in the studio working on Game’s album, which left little time for 50, who wanted to work with Dre on his new album. Although Dre, who is also scheduled to release a new album this year, hasn’t said anything as of yet, people are anticipating his next move. This beef business means a lot of publicity for everyone involved, and some are arguing that the entire story is just a marketing ploy to grab attention and sell records.
Anyway, if it was a marketing move, it seems to be doing its job because I had to go and check out Game’s music after all the hype. I didn’t buy the album though, I am not that gullible. As far as the music goes, Game definitely has better flow than 50, and he has the westside connection, : ) Man, 50 should just give up. Also, wtf is 50 to diss Nas… Nas will lyrically annihilate the 1/2 dollar boy if they ever battle.
